Are you at a stage when you are losing handfuls of hair under the shower? It becomes a little scary when you first were brushing your hair and lots of strands of hair are still looking back at you from the brush. Or you are under the shower shampooing your hair and notice that the plug hole is blocked with your hair.
There are many reasons why people lose their hair in my sister’s case is was due to the Chemo therapy sessions she was receiving as part of her breast cancer treatment. Even though she was told that it might happen she still got a shock as the hair was coming out in clumps and at the time she remarked that she felt like a dog with the mange!
As I was with my sister as support there with her everyday it made me think how easily we do take good health for granted and how the loss of hair whether it is for a man or a woman is equally devastating. As the days went by and her baldness increased she was left to decide do go and just shave it off or do I make the most of it and just get a short hair cut. She choose the latter until all of her hair had fallen out.
Before Margaret was diagnosed with breast cancer we had booked a family cruise her goal was to get well enough to travel and at this stage being completely bald we went shopping to find a wig. The wig she choose was very similar to her own hair we had it fitted and thought that would be the end of her worry and she didn’t have to worry about how to prevent the loss of her hair anymore the wig covered everything..or so I thought.
Her worry and fear was that the wig would fly off on the windy ship deck and she would then need to chase it and avoid the pity looks from strangers on the cruise. Also another consideration the cruise was in the pacific in the middle of summer, this meant that the wig got very uncomfortable.
What we did is look for ways to give her hair every possible chance to recover and I would like to share the information and tips that were actually tested by my sister the guinea pig.
